Awesome talk by Cal Henderson tonight at the SDForum Software Architecture and Modeling SIG.
It went almost two hours and covered almost everything you need to know about how to scale using the LAMP stack. And since the speaker is the guy who architected flickr, it had a certain authenticity to it.

I’ve been a volunteer at SDForum for a long time, I strongly believe that SDForum is one of the good things in the valley, and a key part of the ecosystem. But I’m also an “insider” and that means sometimes I get a little wrapped up in the details and forget to see the forest.

A few months back, Chris Yeh and Nancy Tubbs took Founder's Forum, an older SDForum SIG, and rechristened it the Startup SIG. The idea was to refocus and re-eneregize the SIG, and make it more relevant to what's going on in the valley now.
