Google Tech Talks
William Grosso @ June 11, 2006
If you're reading this blog, you probably know that I help to run SDForum's Emerging Technology SIG.
My goal there is simple: to help to create an ongoing series of talks that prepares the entrepreneurial engineering community for what's coming down the pipeline.
Sidenote: There's been a lot of talk lately about what makes Silicon Valley what it is. Let me throw my hat in the ring: it's the community of information sharing. The thing that differentiates the 20 mile radius around Stanford University from the 20 mile radius around any other university in the country isn't the geeks or the rich people. It's the fact that every single night of the week, there are literally dozens of events on technology and startups. If you want to learn, if you want to connect with people, if you want to just discover interesting stuff, it's easier to do here than anywhere else in the world. By several orders of magnitude.
Okay. That was a digression. The point of this post was going to be to mention Google Video, and to recommend that you check out the Google Tech Talks.
This is good stuff;flash videos of technical talks given at Google, on various subjects. The vast majority of these are quite interesting.
Herewith: a public thank you to Google. This is a great collection of videos and one that I, as someone who helps arrange a similar series of talks, greatly appreciate.
